Paula J. Kinoshita

Paula J. Kinoshita

Paula joined her father Paul Quantz at Quantz Law in 2010. They practiced together as a dynamic father-daughter team until Paul retired in 2020. Paula mainly practices in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Estates, and Estate Litigation; however, she also has a background in corporate law, real estate, and civil litigation. Paula is a Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer and Mediator. She is experienced in resolving disputes both within and outside the court system.

Prior to obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta, Paula was a teacher – instructing junior high students and college students on the joys of English literature and writing. Her background helps her teach clients about the law and legal system, so they are not lost in the process.

Outside of the office, Paula has many joys. She loves the outdoors – hiking, camping, swimming, paddle boarding, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding. Paula plays the piano and works out daytime stresses on the keys. Ask Paula for a suggestion of a great book, and she would be thrilled to recommend one. Paula is married to a psychologist, Cam. They have three children.

Paula sits on the Attendance Board of the Ministry of Education. She is a member of the Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association, the Association of Collaborative Professionals (Edmonton), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Canadian Bar Association.

Paul Quantz

Paul Quantz

After a brief retirement, Paul rejoined the firm as a part-time associate. Paul has over 40 years of legal experience both in Alberta and Manitoba and has primarily practiced as a general practitioner in rural and small community settings. Paul’s preferred practice areas are Wills and Estates, Mediation, Corporate and Commercial, Personal Injury, Elder Law, and Charities Law. Paul’s common sense approach and his congenial personality fit well with the firm’s values and approach to the practice of law.

In addition to the law practice, Paul is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada and has extensive experience in pastoral ministry. He continues to serve in local churches as a speaker and small group leader. He has also served on denominational and local church boards.

Paul has always been a community supporter, having served on several Youth Outreach Associations as a board member and volunteer. He has also served as volunteer chair of St Albert and District Chamber of Commerce, and as president of the Athabasca Rotary Club.

He enjoys camping, fishing, and golfing in his spare time.

Lily Dog at Law

Lily

Lily is our Portuguese Water (office) Dog. She provides support for clients, visitors, and our team. Lily is calm and gentle. She loves coming to work but does a lot of lazing around on the job. In her free time, Lily loves running in Edmonton’s off-leash parks and paddleboarding. She does not bark but can be quite talkative when excited – humming and clicking her jaws. At the end of the day, she heads home with Paula, her true love.
